Abstract Homes must become low energy, resilient to climate change and provide comfort for households, as part of the European renovation wave. Renovation involves millions decisions actions. Owner-occupied households are a key group decision-makers, but with conflicting demands on their time finances. Householders collect information from multiple sources. However, previous research has found that detail available data is difficult find. Therefore, this paper aims identify householder uncertainties related needs, support early-stage energy decision-making. Co-design been be beneficial in designing demand reduction strategies, leading meaningful outcomes householders, however, it was lead further requirements. The open virtual exchange reported here, inspired by co-design workshop approaches, effective identifying gathering feedback types address them. Householders’ require trusted specialists visit home in-person. identified could shared via trials at hubs, potentially using digital apps connect opportunity, householders’ practitioners.
